Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from an ethnically diverse background. Jacqueline's parents are Malaysian and the Sri Lankan. Their father Elroy Fernandez is from Sri Lanka. Jacqueline is the oldest of two brothers as well as a younger sister. It was because of the war that raged in Lanka that her parents made the decision to relocate to Bahrain. The schooling she completed was within Bahrain and she won an Scholarship for at the University of Sydney. There she was awarded a Media and Communications degree. In order to further her interest in the world of languages, cultures and languages she enrolled in the Berlitz schools of languages where she was able to study Spanish as well as improve French as well as Arabic. The crown was awarded to Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th of 2006, and then was a contestant at Miss Universe 2006. After winning Miss Sri Lanka in 2006 Padukone was able to begin her work as a TV host. She was the host of the program Lanka Business Report which focused on business in Sri Lanka. Padukone's father was a badminton player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has been raised both in Copenhagen and Bangalore. In her teens, she competed at national-level badminton tournaments. She later resigned from the sport and became a fashion designer. Padukone is of Mangalorean roots and is fluent in Konkani as her native language. Padukone Village is located within Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi Distric of Karnataka within India. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is an international badminton player who has retired. Her mom is a travel agent.
